Eleven sermons on Philippians 4:11, preached in London and published after Burroughs’ death in 1646. He describes contentment, opens the mystery of it, sets out the lessons Christ teaches his scholars, and then turns the argument round on the murmuring heart — its evils, its aggravations, and every plea it makes for itself. A twelfth sermon, on Exodus 14:13, is printed with them. Spelling and punctuation are as printed in 1649.
