Tracts and Treatises of John de Wycliffe

Robert Vaughan’s 1845 volume for the Wycliffe Society, in the three parts the Advertisement describes: Part I, Vaughan’s biographical memoir (‘Facts and Observations Concerning the Life of Wycliffe’); Part II, analytical - his account of Wycliffe’s writings still surviving only in manuscript, and his translation of the doctrinal chapters (on the sacraments, the hierarchy and the religious orders) from Book IV of the Latin Trialogus, prefaced by an account of the Trialogus’s first three books; and Part III, bibliothecal - eight tracts reprinted from earlier printed editions, numbered I-VIII, ending with Wycliffe’s two eucharistic confessions. The volume’s two indexes (to the writings, and to the life) close it out. Parts I and II are long continuous scholarly prose without further internal headings beyond the Trialogus chapters, and are split into sized parts where they run long; the tracts of Part III are each one note.
